We started Poorly Pet after our own Dachshund, Marble, was diagnosed with IVDD. What we learned helping her became a simple mission: make the right support easy to find for every poorly pet.
In 2024, at just three years old, our much-loved Dachshund Marble was diagnosed with IVDD. We had first noticed her dragging her back legs and losing her balance. Almost overnight we were learning words like “disc extrusion” and “crate rest”.
We couldn’t find the right help, so we kept looking. Late nights reading studies, forums and vet guidance taught us one thing: good products existed, but finding the right ones was far too hard.
We tested products, read everything we could and kept what genuinely helped. With patience and careful monitoring, Marble’s better days started to outnumber her bad ones, and we began sharing what we had learned with other dog owners.
At the end of 2025, Joe and Lily founded Poorly Pet from home in Sandbach, Cheshire: one place for guidance and carefully chosen products for recovery, comfort and everyday wellbeing.
