Carpal Splint for Dogs - Wrist Joint Immobilisation

The Ortocanis Carpal Splint is a rigid orthopaedic support designed to fully immobilise your dog's carpal (wrist) joint during recovery from injury or surgery. Whether your dog is healing from a ligament tear, tendon damage, or has undergone surgical stabilisation of the foreleg, this splint provides the firm, consistent support needed to protect the joint and allow proper healing to take place.

Unlike traditional plaster casts or compression bandages, the Ortocanis splint is engineered to let your dog's paw maintain natural contact with the ground. This keeps your dog mobile and more comfortable throughout their recovery, while also reducing the risk of skin problems such as pressure sores and maceration that can occur under conventional bandaging.

Made from durable, lightweight materials with adjustable velcro fastenings, the splint is straightforward to fit and remove for daily skin checks and cleaning. 1. Measure your dog's carpus circumference and foreleg length carefully and refer to the Ortocanis sizing chart to select the correct size before fitting.
2. Ensure the leg and paw are clean and dry before applying the splint.
3. Position the splint along the back of the foreleg, aligning it with the carpal joint. The paw should rest naturally on the ground contact surface at the base of the splint.
4. Secure the velcro straps firmly but without overtightening — you should be able to slide one finger beneath each strap comfortably.
5. Check your dog's paw and toes for circulation — they should be warm and free from swelling.
6. Inspect the skin under the splint at least once daily for any signs of redness, rubbing, or pressure sores. Remove immediately if irritation is present and consult your vet.
7. Restrict your dog's activity to short, controlled, lead-walked exercise as advised by your veterinarian.
