Balto® Pull – Brace for Hyperflexion Phalanges

Gently pulls a knuckling paw back into position so your dog stops walking on the top of it. Two toe bands included — soft for indoors, firmer for outside.

• Start with the soft toe band indoors while your dog gets used to the sensation.
• Fit the toe band around the paw first, then fasten the upper strap up the leg.
• Adjust the tension so the paw is lifted just enough to land pad-down. Too much tension is as much of a problem as too little.
• Watch a few steps. The paw should turn over naturally rather than being yanked forward.
• Swap to the firmer band for walks on rough ground.
• Check between the toes and around the band every time it comes off — this brace sits on skin that may already be sore from dragging.

Sudden knuckling needs a vet, not a brace. It can indicate a spinal problem requiring urgent attention, and bracing a dog whose condition hasn't been diagnosed risks masking something time-critical.

• Build up wearing time gradually and check the paw every time the brace comes off.
• Pay particular attention to skin that was already grazed from dragging — it needs to heal, not be rubbed.
• Stop and reassess if you find rubbing, swelling or broken skin, or if the toes look cool or discoloured.
• Take the brace off overnight unless your vet has told you otherwise.
• Never leave a braced dog unsupervised on a lead or in a crate.

Hand wash in cool water with mild soap and air dry away from direct heat. Don't tumble dry, and don't put it on a radiator — heat distorts the shaping and the velcro.
